My career transition as a mum

Like many of us, my journey as a mom hasn’t always been sunshine and rainbows. After my daughter was born, I took time to be a stay-at-home mom.. the BEST TIME of my life. But when I tried returning to marketing after 15 years..

I was sitting at my desk, staring at the screen, scrolling through endless job ads, trying to apply for marketing roles. I felt… nothing. Just uninspired, flat, empty. I realized I’d outgrown the marketing roles that used to excite me, which was shocking, because I’d been doing it for 15 years. I loved it. What was wrong with me all of a sudden? I thought, “If not this, then what?”

I had just returned from Australia to Switzerland. where I built most of my life and career until love brought me back to Europe in my thirties.

But Switzerland felt too quiet for my soul. So there I was—completely clueless about what I wanted and in a country where I didn’t belong.

I know what it’s like to feel stuck between who you’ve become and who you’re meant to be.

Mama, what's next? Holistic Career Mentoring

How I manifested my career transition

Eventually I discovered “What Color is Your Parachute.” Three months and many exercises later, I discovered CSR. I had never worked in sustainability, but growing up in East Germany and moving to Australia at 21 taught me I could conquer anything. So I packed my baby in a suitcase and moved back to Sydney with no apartment, no job, no plan and just 6 months to give it a go.

The universe rewarded me. I even had a specific company in mind that I wanted to work with—and I landed my dream CSR role with that exact company (manifestation magic). Finally, work that felt aligned and meaningful.

This wasn’t my last career reinvention. After returning to Germany in 2020, I chose friends and freedom over a global brand director role. My hardest career decision to date. A year of panic attacks followed. Then my close friend fired me – I’d never been let go before, and he broke my heart.

A soul-searching mentorship eventually brought me back to myself and to launch MWN.

My deeper Why: I grew up with a woman who gave up on her wishes in exchange for a safe life. I promised her and myself to break that pattern. Now I’m helping women do what she couldn’t: Be true to themselves.
