ToggleMelanie’s Journey to Human Design Transforms Careers
Melanie’s path to Human Design began during a personal crisis. Around 2017, she realized that her life didn’t feel right for her, culminating in burnout by 2018. Despite having what others considered a perfect life—family, home, job—she felt deeply unhappy without understanding why.
“I was completely miserable. And everyone kept asking me, ‘What do you want? You have everything—a dream life with family, home, work—you have it all!’ But I was so unhappy and couldn’t explain why,” Melanie shares.
A turning point came when she met a friend who practiced Human Design. This friend made a simple suggestion about Melanie’s eating type—advising her to drink more water and consume warmer foods. This small change created noticeable results, sparking Melanie’s curiosity to learn more about Human Design.
“I made this tiny change and noticed a difference. Then I looked at the whole system and thought, ‘Wow, this is just one building block out of thousands!’ There was so much more behind it,” she explains.
As a 3/5 Projector type, Melanie has a natural hunger for knowledge that had often been limited in traditional education settings. In Human Design, she found a system with no boundaries to her learning—a characteristic that continues to excite her years into her practice.
Working with Companies Through Human Design
Melanie has specialized in applying Human Design principles to business settings. She addresses a common misconception about the current workforce challenges:
“We keep hearing about skilled worker shortages, but it’s not really about that. It’s about companies not keeping up with the times. Today’s Generation Z prioritizes health and self-care over work, which is different from previous generations.”
When Melanie works with companies using Human Design, she reveals:
- Each employee’s unique potential and genius
- How to position people where they can thrive
- How to create environments where self-actualization is possible
“When you put a person where their genius can flourish and create an environment where they can truly express themselves, they develop a completely different drive and motivation that comes from within,” she explains.
Her approach examines:
- Current employee resources and types
- How team members harmonize (or trigger each other)
- The energetic design of the company itself
- Which customers and employees the company naturally attracts
“Sometimes teams have tremendous trigger potential and don’t function well together. Often, changing just small details can make everything work again. You might not need to fire employees when you feel something isn’t working—sometimes just one adjustment changes everything.”
Leadership Transformation
Melanie points out a critical gap in leadership effectiveness:
“About 70% of leaders claim they’re good leaders, but one in every two or three employees has quit because of their leadership. That’s a huge disconnect.”
Human Design provides honest insights that can sometimes be uncomfortable, revealing when someone might be in a position they’re not naturally suited for. This awareness allows for authentic changes that benefit everyone.
Working with Individuals and Entrepreneurs
Melanie works with clients through various formats—one-on-one Zoom calls, group sessions, and hybrid approaches. For businesses, she often combines online work with on-site observation to identify precise adjustments that can improve productivity and efficiency.
For individual entrepreneurs, Melanie emphasizes that self-awareness creates the foundation for other improvements:
“Most transformations begin with self-recognition, which brings tremendous value. We usually assume others see things as we do, but they often see things completely differently. This creates communication misunderstandings.”
The “aha moment” of understanding your own design naturally leads to changing your communication style, marketing approach, and external presentation.
“Sometimes, depending on your design, you need a completely different external appearance. In my case, I naturally attract people who need security, stability, and facts and figures. I never would have thought to build my marketing this way, and I used to wonder why I wasn’t reaching people. We were speaking different languages!”
The Transformation Process
When asked how someone knows they’re becoming aligned with their design, Melanie describes it as a process rather than a moment:
“It’s truly a transformation process because we’re often conditioned by what we’ve learned about how things should work. Maybe you’ve tried something for a long time without success, but you fear that changing paths means losing what you’ve already learned.”
She compares it to waiting in line for an amusement park ride—feeling obligated to continue waiting because you’ve already invested time, even when a different choice might be better.
The transition may feel bumpy at first, but alignment becomes evident when things start flowing:
“At some point, you realize, ‘Hey, everything is becoming easier, simpler, and suddenly everything flows.’ People often ask, ‘How is it suddenly working now?’ Sometimes it’s just tiny adjustments that you couldn’t see yourself because conditioned behaviors can be very powerful.”
The ultimate sign of alignment is when intrinsic motivation emerges—a force that can’t be stopped or held back. The timeline varies for each person depending on how deeply conditioned their previous behaviors were.
The conversation highlights how understanding your unique energetic print means Human Design transforms careers and business environments. By aligning individuals with their natural talents and energy patterns, both people and companies can achieve greater flow, fulfillment, and success.
Whether you’re a mid-life career changer seeking purpose, a working mother struggling to balance multiple demands, or a business leader trying to optimize your team’s performance, Human Design offers a framework for understanding your unique nature and creating alignment with your true self.
For those feeling stuck or unfulfilled in their current paths, Melanie’s journey demonstrates how discovering your authentic design can open doors to unexpected possibilities and finally create the sense of meaning and purpose that may have been missing.
